The late Grandmaster Moy Yat began training with Grandmaster Yip Man in 1957 and trained until Yip Man's death in 1972. Afterwards, he moved to New York City and started a school in Chinatown. Besides being a martial artist he was a painter, seal maker, and author. Part of his work includes a set of chops bearing seals representing the lineage of Ving Tsun Kung Fu, starting with its founder, Yim Ving Tsun as viewed on the left. He popularzed Ving Tsun in America and throughout the world.
One of Moy Yat's closest students, Anthony “Moy Tung” Dandridge, started training with Moy Yat in 1980. He opened a school in Richmond, Virginia in 1986 and has trained students, grandstudents and great grandstudents all over the country.
Robert “Moy Yat Tung” Squatrito began training with Moy Tung in Richmond while he attended medical school. While completing a fellowship in gynecological oncology, he opened a kung fu school in Iowa City, Iowa in 1993. After moving to start his surgical practice, he opened another school in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2001.
Luc Readinger began his kung fu training under Moy Yat Tung at the Iowa City school and is currently the Sifu at Driftless Kung Fu.
